Chesterfield TIC Staff Receive Award

Last year, Chesterfield's state-of-the-art Tourist Information Centre (TIC) won Silver in the England for Excellence awards but this year, they have gone one better and grabbed the Gold for the best TIC in the East Midlands region.

The Borough Council's information centre, situated in the shadow of Chesterfield's famous Crooked Spire Church, beat other short-listed TICs from Castleton and Leicester to win the Best TIC category.

Chesterfield Tourist Information Centre has entered the TIC of the Year competition again and, what's more, they've been shortlisted for the regional award again.

The TIC gained the gold award for the East Midlands in 2005 and went on to win at national level, took the regional silver last year but has to wait till October this year to find out if they've scooped another award.

Biggest-Ever Continental Market at Chesterfield Festival

Chesterfield's biggest-ever Continental Market will feature a feast of fine foods and crafts ranging from Dutch pancakes to Polish candles during the town's forthcoming Market Festival.

European specialities from cured sausages to French bread and leather handbags to woodcraft will tempt visitors throughout the fifth annual Festival, which will be held from Thursday October 30 to Saturday November 1. More than 30 stalls will ply their wares on Central Pavement, Low Pavement and New Square.
